Chocolate Cupcakes with 100% whole wheat flour

Last week I had my family visiting us, made these cupcakes for them. To my delight everyone enjoyed them so much and were asking for recipe.

Despite of being made with 100% Whole wheat flour they have a very soft and airy texture. As I keep on saying, you will forget refined flour once you start baking with whole wheat flour. Who doesn’t want a healthier indulgence 😉

  • 1 & 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 & 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar

  • Mix milk and vinegar and keep aside for few minutes, it will curdle(this is buttermilk only, you can use curd as well)
  • Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and saltIMG20170428085555
  • Now come back to your curdled milk, add oil and vanilla to it, mix wellIMG20170428115701
  • Add sugar to this mixture and mix till the sugar melts downIMG20170428115811
  • Sieve the dry ingredients mixture once again over this liquid and mix till everything is combined and there are no lumps
  • Switch on the oven for preheating at 170 degrees
  • Line the muffins tray with paper liners and pour the batter evenly. This mixture gave me 12 big size(5″) cupcakesIMG20170428120946
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 15-18 minutes at 170 degrees, till the cakes pass a toothpick test(that is the toothpick inserted comes out clean).IMG20170428205743

Cool them completely and then decorate or enjoy as it is😊 They are yummy as it is, but you can definitely add more charm by piping some Chocolate Ganache over them😉😍IMG20170428230339
