Egg Free, Alcohol Free, Whole Wheat Christmas Fruit Cake

Christmas season is already here so how could I forget about everyone’s favorite Christmas Cake 🤗I created this recipe last weekend especially for the blog, and this one is absolutely my style with 100% whole wheat flour, egg free, alcohol free & of course uses raw unrefined sugar hence, definitely a lot healthier than what you get normally 😍DSCN0382.JPG

It came out so well, my Husband and Brother both loved it so much that they could not even wait for it to cool down and slice 😋😂DSCN0418.JPG

The recipe is not that tough, traditionally they soak fruits in alcohol for quite some time but as we don’t consume any alcohol so I soaked the fruits in orange juice for an hour(there is a trick to it just read on 😉) So, here is the detailed step by step recipe for you tho create magic this Christmas 🤗


  • ½ cup dried cranberry
  • ½ cup tutti fruity
  • ¼ cup de-seeded chopped dates
  • ¼ cup chopped dried figs
  • ¼ cup chopped almonds
  • ¼ cup chopped apricots
  • ¼ cup chopped cashew
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice/apple juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 & ½ cup whole wheat flour
  • ¾ cup raw cane sugar
  • ½ cup butter
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • ¼ tsp grated nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • ½ cup hot water


  • Soak all the fruits in orange juice and orange zest in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for a minute. After this cover the bowl and keep aside for an hour 

  • Add butter and sugar to a mixing bowl and pour hot water over it. Mix and let it rest for few minutesIMG20171118192634
  • In another bowl add milk and vinegar and mix them together, this will form buttermilk in few minutes
  • Switch on the oven for preheating at 180 degrees
  • Add the butter milk to the previous bowl of butter, sugar & hot water. Mix everything wellIMG20171118192644
  • Sift together flour, cocoa, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, salt, baking powder & baking soda over thisIMG20171118192706
  • Mix the liquid & dry ingredients well and then add the soaked fruits into it and mix again 

  • Pour it in the prepared tin and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until the toothpick inserted comes out clean🙂😋DSCN0392.JPG
