Palak Paneer Quiche

You become more and more creative with food when you have kids 😊my tiny winy daughter who will not eat Palak(Spinach) otherwise happily ate it in this form ok at least some of it 😉and that made me happy of course. And me and my husband loved it completely😍IMG20171129193557

The dish is pretty wholesome in it self, you don’t need anything on side if you are planning to prepare this in today’s dinner. It is just a make over of our Desi Palak Paneer in a fancy way. The crust is made with 100% whole wheat flour and yet it is so flavorful and yum. You have to try it to believe.

  • 1 & 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Chilled water as required to knead the dough
  • 200 grams paneer cubes
  • 1 bunch of cleaned and chopped spinach
  • 1 tsp fine chopped garlic
  • 1/2 tsp fine chopped ginger
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 1/4 cup cream
  • Crushed black pepper to taste
  • 1 cu grated mixed cheese
  • 1 tsp olive oil


  • Take flour in a big bowl or plate, add salt, sugar and butter to it, rub butter in flour with your finger tips till it looks like bread crumbs
  • Now add chilled water and make the dough come together, cover and rest it in fridge for at least an hour. A chilled dough gives perfect crust to the base
  • After an hour, roll the dough to a thin sheet large enough to cover a 9″ pie pan
  • Drape this sheet on the pie pan and cover it full, the sides as well
  • Prick the dough sheet at many places so that it doesn’t puff up while baking, then bake it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 15 minutes
  • Meanwhile heat a tsp oil in a pan and add ginger and garlic to it, cook till they turn golden
  • then add sliced onion and cook till it gets pink
  • Now add paneer and cook it till it is a little golden in color, then add spinach and cook till all its moisture is absorbed
  • Add salt and pepper and mix well, then add cream and mix
  • Take it off the heat and let it cool a bit
  • Spread this filling evenly on pre-baked Quiche crust, and cover it with grated cheese
  • Bake it in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for 10 more minutes
