Buttery Salted Crackers/Monacco Style Crackers

Do you love dipping your salty crackers in tea! For me its heaven I love salted crackers after dipping in my sweet tea😋😍 But since last 1 & ½ year we don’t buy any market made biscuits at my home, and by far I have created many cookie recipes to add nutrition and taste in my family’s diet. But this one was missing and finally when a client asked me to make some salted buttery crackers which I could not resist and made these.


They came out perfect, crispy, crunchy, buttery, delicious and all of this sans Maida(refined flour). What could be better ☺ They are made with oats and whole wheat but nowhere they lack in taste,  Oats have given them perfect crispness and nutty flavor.



  • 1 & 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup Oats Powder(Roasted)
  • 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Milk(or as required)
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tbsp Sugar


  • In a food processor jar add whole wheat flour, roasted oats powder, salt, sugar, baking powder and blitz for 3-4 seconds till everything is mixed well
  • Take 1/3 cup of cold butter and chop it into cubes and finally add it to the food processor, blitz till everything is mixed and till they appear like bread crumbs
  • Add 2 tbsp olive oil to it and blitz again, add milk as required to combine it as a dough
  • Take out as soon as it starts to come together. No need to knead it muchIMG20180622105833
  • Let it chill in the fridge for an hour and then take out and roll to a thin sheetIMG20180622123645
  • Roll it really thin almost the same or just a little bit more than chapatti or roti
  • Cut out the crackers in your desired shapes and line them on a baking tray, use a fork to make the perforations on the crackersIMG20180622141436
  • Melt the remaining 2 tbsp butter and brush it on top of all the cookies then sprinkle some salt over them
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 160 degrees for 12-15 minutes till they look crisp and golden. keep an eye after 10 minutesIMG20180622150827
